That's all I remembered while filming on set, besides running around and wearing a construction cap.

Yep, that's me—Dave Winter, CEO, but you wouldn't have guessed it 15 years ago.
We were featured on the hit television show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which aired for multiple seasons and was broadcasted to millions of viewers nationally.
The show was relatively new in those days, and helping families transform their home to meet their lifestyle was part of our company mission.
When producers from the show first reached out to us, we said "YES!"
Because hey, who doesn't want to be on TV? We thought we could do it all.
In hindsight, it was the worst and best decision of my life.

But as I said, it wasn't easy.
To appear on the show, we had to compete against other companies and qualify. As you could imagine, there was an approval process, and it was very difficult.

I remember the very first time the show was broadcasted. Phones were ringing off the hook, orders were piling up from the day-to-day business, and on top of that, we had a massive backlog of unfulfilled orders.
We were juggling between cutting, trimming, and painting doors while clients were calling-in and demanding order status updates. I remembered looking down at my watch and it was 2 hours past closing. I had completely lost track of time, and had to call my wife and kids that night to let them I wouldn't be home for dinner.

Everything was on the line and honestly, I almost didn't think we'd make it.
Needless to say, we're still here. We pushed through, and I'm glad we took up the challenge.
